Terceira tentativa - Third attempt

Pela terceira vez, estou tentando fazer um blog que dure.

Blogar pode ser uma coisa legal, desde que você saiba o que quer.

Tentei fazer um descrevendo o mundo novo que encontrei quando me mudei de pais…a História do meu país novo me derrotou, pois para entender este mundo novo você tem que entender sua história e todos os fatos que resultaram na realidade que vemos hoje, e meu amigo! Tem pelo menos 5000 anos de história registrada pra explorar, e cheguei à conclusão de que, mesmo contando tudo isso, se você não vive aqui não vai entender nada. Mesmo quem vive aqui há gerações tem dificuldade pra entender, que dizer de quem nunca nem de longe passou por aqui! Projeto encerrado.

Ai, tentei fazer um que foi só uma resposta a um autor completamente alucinado que desenvolveu idéias New Age do balacobaco e que…pasmem!..tem seguidores fiéis. Bom, desse eu não desisti ainda, tá congelado, porque realmente precisa de tempo para ser desenvolvido.

Mas foi o gancho que eu precisava. Como rata de livros num país que facilmente pode ser chamado de “A Biblioteca do Mundo”, desde que cheguei aqui não parei mais de adquirir livros, em todos os formatos. Parei de comprar livros em papel e comprei um iPad simplesmente por falta TOTAL de espaço na casa, E continuo lendo pra burro!

Ao mesmo tempo,  não me afastei completamente da Terra Pátria, e num novo projeto, busquei (e estou buscando) estreitar os laços e, esperando que os novos ventos de estabilidade e progresso econômico tivessem tido sua contrapartida cultural, voltei-me para a Velha Pátria para ver o que estava acontecendo.

Assustou.

Mesmo!

Vou falar disso nos posts.

Assim, num rasgo de (talvez) idiotice, decidi inaugurar novo blog para comentar DO PONTO DE VISTA DO LEITOR (pois e o que sou – LEITORA) o que temos na Velha Pátria e na aldeia global em termos de literatura.

Aviso: NÃO SOU crítica literária, NÃO SOU funcionária de editoras nem escritora-to-be, apenas alguém que LÊ e GOSTA DE LER.

Minha profissão é cientifica, e ler é parte essencial dela. Leio normalmente MILHARES de páginas de relatórios científicos, técnicos, manuais, legislações, relatórios financeiros, etc. Leitura  árida e na maior parte muito chata, mas que me habilitou a desenvolver uma capacidade interessante, que é a de, num mar de palavras, identificar e compreender rapidamente o que é essencial para um dado objetivo. E como tenho que preparar instruções para outros lerem, tal conhecimento capacitou-me a escrever mais ou menos objetivamente.

Mas...fora do ambiente técnico-científico-burocrático, ainda me encanta ler grandes romances, poemas épicos, crônicas interessantes, artigos jornalísticos e mesmo blogs que tenham algo a dizer.

E portanto, pretendo comentar O QUE leio e POR QUE achei uma ou outra coisa interessante ou intragável.  Obviamente é algo que estou fazendo porque gosto. Às vezes, após ler um livro que gostamos, temos a necessidade de falar sobre ele, ou compartilhá-lo, ou simplesmente elogiá-lo. Mesma coisa para livros que não gostamos.

Como estou longe da Velha Pátria, e ainda não estabeleci um circulo de amizades aqui que permita essas discussões, este blog bilíngue tem esta finalidade.

E também é uma homenagem ao meu blogueiro favorito, Walter Carrilho, que decidiu dar um tempo na atividade de blogar.

For the third time, I'm trying to start a blog that will last.

Blogging can be a cool thing, as long as you know what you want.

I tried to do one describing the new world that I met when I moved countries ... the history of my new country defeated me, because to understand this new world one has to understand its history and all the facts that resulted in the reality we see today, and oh dear! There are at least 5000 years of recorded history to explore, and I came to the conclusion that, even if one considers all this, if one doesn't live here one won't understand anything. Even those who have been living here for generations have difficulty to understand, never mind those who never, ever came here! Project closed.

Then I tried to do one that was just a response to a completely hallucinated  author that developed seriously bonkers New Age ideas  and ... behold! ...has faithful followers. Well, I haven't given that one up yet, it's frozen, because it really needs time to be developed.

But it was the hook that I needed. As a bookworm in a country that can easily be called "the library of the world", since I came here I have not stopped purchasing books in all formats. I stopped buying books in hardcopies and bought an iPad just due to the TOTAL lack of space in the house, and keep on reading as well!

Meanwhile,  I haven’t backed off completely from the Homeland, and as part of a new project, I sought (and I'm seeking) to establish closer ties and, hoping that the new winds of stability and economic progress have had their cultural counterpart, I turned to the old homeland to see what was happening there.

It scared me.

So, in a rampant of (perhaps) idiocy, I decided to inaugurate a new blog to comment FROM the POINT of VIEW of the READER (for this is what I am-a READER) what we have now in the old homeland and in the global village in terms of literature.

Warning: I'M NOT a literary critic, I'M NOT an employee from publishers nor writer-to-be, just someone who READS and LIKES to READ.

My profession is a scientific one, and reading is an essential part of it. Normally I read thousands of pages of scientific, technical reports, manuals, financial reports, legislation, etc. Reading them is an arid and mostly very boring task, but by doing that I have been able to develop an interesting capability, that is, in a sea of words, to identify and understand quickly what is essential for a given purpose. And as I have to prepare instructions for others to read, such knowledge enabled me to write more or less objectively.

But ... out of scientific-technical and bureaucratic environment, yet I love reading great novels, epics, chronicles, news articles and even blogs that have something to say.

And so, I wish to comment on what I read and why I found something interesting or unpalatable. Obviously it's something I'm doing because I like to do it. Sometimes, after reading a book that we like, we need to talk about it, or share it, or just praise it. Same thing for books that we don't like.

As I am away from the Old Homeland, and have not yet established a circle of friends here to participate in such discussions, this bilingual blog has this purpose.

And it is also a tribute to my favourite blogger, Walter Carrilho, who decided to take a break in the activity of blogging.
